A Weekend in SF

SanFran-1

Hello strangers.

Walk with me as I stroll down memory lane to my latest trip to San Francisco.

As everyone in the world knows, San Francisco is a hideous place.  I hardly took any photos.

Psych.

SanFran-5

My first morning there we hustled to Starbucks, hopped in a car, and continued to hustle our buns in order to catch our ferry to brunch.

What?

Doesn’t everyone ferry to brunch?

Anyway.  My friend Erin has lived in SF for a few years and my OTHER friend Ryan just recently joined her there.  They live right down the hall from each other.  LITERALLY!  My FOMO (fear of missing out) had never been higher.  I am happy to report that we didn’t skip a beat in becoming conjoined triplets for the weekend.

SanFran-8I swear we were triplets.  I just don’t have proof.  SOMEBODY had to take the exquisite photos. SanFran-10SanFran-9You may have noticed the subtle fact that the girls are in workout clothes.  Well, this is because the plan for the day was an alcohol free brunch to be followed by a 3+ hour hike.

About 3 mimosas in we bailed on that and decided to call our chauffeur (E’s boyfriend Stanley) and have him charter us to Napa.

Way. Better. Idea.

Why was this a way better idea you ask?

Aside from the complete and total obvious (the wine) …it’s because of the light.

There is nothing…NOTHING…like California light.

SanFran-25 SanFran-24 SanFran-32 SanFran-33 Look at the next photo.  I cannot even handle how inferior the light (photography wise) in Colorado is compared to this.  It’s so ethereal and so gorgeous.  SanFran-29

Alas, I had priorities consisting of laughing, bonding, and wine drinking.  The light would have to wait.

SanFran-27SanFran-28SanFran-30SanFran-26SanFran-31Napa-1SanFran-20The three of us are natural ‘seekers of the sun’ if you will.  So we sought the sun right into an incredibly thick and green patch of grass.  We didn’t leave until the sun did.  I love these photos so much and have to thank Stanley for capturing them.

This day was perfect.

SanFran-36 SanFran-34 SanFran-35 SanFran-37 SanFran-38The rest of the weekend was spent recovering (too much wine) replacing E’s broken iPhone (too much wine) and of course, eating all the food (with more wine).  My last night there, we enjoyed a chilly sunset on the water and made plans for our next adventure.  SanFran-39 SanFran-42SanFran-41SanFran-40 See ya next time SF.  SanFran-43

Here are some fun iPhone shots as well.

Weekend Recap

I’ve been avoiding talking about the fact that I haven’t been posting very religiously as of late.  Hopefully that will change in the coming days, but until then I’m going to continue avoiding it and distract you with some photos of our weekend.

I call this post “Christmas comes to the Hendrickson House and Marlo is unimpressed”.

MMChristmas-21MMChristmas-22

“Marlo!  Here kitty kitty kitty…  We know you’re an indoor cat that really wishes she could be an outdoor cat so we knew you’d be really excited to see that we brought the outdoors inside to you!”

MMChristmas-8

“No?  Well maybe once we get some ornaments on it you’ll be more excited.”

MMChristmas-23

MMChristmas-9MMChristmas-16“Marlo!  Look over here!  Look at how pretty these ornaments are!”

MMChristmas-12

“Huh.  Still no holiday excitement outta you?  Well let’s decorate some more and see if that helps.”

MMChristmas-14MMChristmas-15“Don’t you just love the glittery snowflakes?!”

MMChristmas-7

“Not a fan of glitter?   Ok then.  You probably won’t like the rest of the decorations.”MMChristmas-5MMChristmas-6MMChristmas-4MMChristmas-17

“Oooh Marlo what do you think about the entry table?  Isn’t it festive and holiday cheer inducing?”

MMBook-1

“C’mon…you won’t even look at it?”MMChristmas-18MMChristmas-20Marlo…just come see it!  It’s so sparkly I just know you’ll love it!”

MMChristmas-13

“Wow cat.  You are being such a snot.  Does little miss prissy pants need some help getting in the holiday spirit?”

MMChristmas-3

“Now THAT’S better.”

“Hmm…still not quite right.  I feel like something is missing.”

MMChristmas-1“Perfect.”

Weekend Recap

And just like that…it’s fall in Colorado.

And I LOVE IT!!!

Because do you know what comes next?

Winter.

And skiing.  And Thanksgiving.  And more skiing.  And boots and scarves and freshly baked Beaver Creek chocolate chip cookies.

But let’s get back to fall because I’m so happy that it’s here.

Fall brings us several things around here:

…ski pass purchases (ouch).

…my birthday (it’s Friday, double ouch).

…and over the last few years…my in-laws (I know you think i’m going to say triple ouch, but I like them, so HA you’re wrong).

This fall was no different.  Jay and Heidi arrived last Thursday for a weekend of good food, delicious wine and the always breathtaking Colorado views.

Last year we all went to Aspen, but this time we decided to stay a little bit closer to home and headed up to the Echo Lake area instead.

It’s wonderful here in the summer, spectacularly fun in the winter, but as far as showcasing Colorado’s natural beauty goes…fall takes the cake.

After our exhausting viewing of the landscape we decided that visiting a Colorado winery was our only option.

The wine was good, the food was good, but the entertainment was great…

…unless you’re Jon in which case you hate all things adorable.

The rest of the weekend was action packed with a concert in Boulder on Friday, some shopping and sightseeing, a baseball game and a relaxing Sunday brunch at Lola.

Who doesn’t start breakfast with an order of donuts?

Who doesn’t follow donuts with lobster filled deviled eggs?

There was also a fly over and several minutes educating Jay on Asian rap artists.

It was a lovely weekend jam packed with things I’d like to do every weekend if I could.  It’s always nice to have visitors here, especially when it’s family.  Jon and I both love sharing what we find so irresistible about Colorado with people.

I wish fall could last forever, but just this morning it was dumping snow in the mountains.  It’s only a matter of time before it makes it’s way to the foothills and eventually Denver.  So cheers to your fall, wherever you are, soak it up because it always goes way too fast.
